Pele is considered as the best footballer in the history of the game and was known as ‘the king of football’ during his career. he was voted as the best footballer of the century by IFFHS international federation of football history and statistics. Pele is the only player who enjoys the privilege to be a part of 3 world cup winning squads. Pele scored 760 official goals. 541 in league championships, these stunning figures make him the highest scorer of all time. however Pele’s total goals are more than 1200. on scoring his 1000th goal he dedicated it to the poor children of Brazil. Pele made his debut as a Santos player at the age of 15 and wore his 1st national jersey 1 year later. and at the age of 17 he had won his 1st world cup. 2) Diego Armando Maradona born in 1960 is an Argentine legend. many people refer to him as the greatest footballer of all time. Maradona played in 4 world cups and captained Argentina to their 1986 world cup win over Germany and was awarded the golden ball for the tournament’s best player. Maradona was suspended from football in 1991 and was sent home in the 1994 world cup both times he failed the drug tests. Maradona rook the job of argentine head coach in 2008 and his contract expired after the world cup of 2010.
3)Marcel ‘Marco’ Van Basten, born in 1964, is also a living legend of the world of football, consider as the greatest striker of all time. he had a high profile career cut short by injury, he scored 277 goals in his career. He has been named the European player of the year 3 times and was named the FIFA world player of the year in 1992. Marco came 25th in the 100 greatest dutch people, 2nd highest for a footballer. He later managed AFC Ajax and the dutch international team.
4) Rivaldo Vitor Borba Ferreira, born in brazil in the year 1972. Rivaldo played 5 years for Barcelona football club where he won 2 spanish leagues and a Copa Del Rey. Rivaldo played 74 matches and scored 34 goals for his nation from 1993 2003. Rivaldo, in 1999 was named the FIFA player of the year, european footballer of the year and also won the Ballon d’Or that year. Currently Rivaldo plays as a striker for the campeonato paulista club Mogi mirim EC and is also the chairman of the club.
5) Zinedine Yazid Zidane, born in 1972 is a retired French footballer. he was a part of the world cup and euro cup winning squads of France in 1998 and 2000 respectively. Zidane played for a number of huge football clubs in Europe such as RealMadrid and Juventus. Zidane took a brief retirement from football but returned in 2005 and lead France to the final of the 2006 world cup, where France lost to Italy on penalties and Zidane was sent off for a head but on Marco Materazzi. Zidane was awarded the golden ball for the most outstanding performance in the world cup. Zidane’s most important achievement in football is that he is the only footbaler alongside Brazilian Ronaldo who has won the FIFA player of the year award 3 times.

Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or twice and is the only player besides Zidane to win FIFA player of the year 3 times. Ronaldo played 97 games for brazil aand amazingly scored 62 goals. Ronaldo became the highest scorer in world cup history in the 2006 world cup when he surpassed Gerd Muller’s 14 goals by scoring his 15th goal at the tournament. he was also a part of the glorious brazilian squads of 1994 and 2002 world cups. he was the highest scorer at the 2002 world cup. in 2007 he was named to the FIFA 100, a list of the greatest footballers compiled by fellow countrymen Pele
7) Steven George Gerrard MBE born in 1980, is 1 of the greatest footbalers that the english football has produced. gerrard captains the english side liverpool where he has played since he stepped into professional football. steven gerrard has scored several miraculous goals in cup finals and lead liverpool to the outstanding wins at the UEFA champions league 2005 and the FA cup 2006. 10) Lionel Andres “Leo” Messi born in 1987 is an argentine legend . He currently plays for the spanish giants barcelona football club. messi also holds spanish citizenship and is therefore an eligible EU player. He won both Ballon d’Or and FIFA player of the year award at the age of 22. messi scored 38 goals in the 2008 09 season and in the following year equaled ronaldo’s record total for barcelona by scoring 47 goals in all commpetitions. Messi was the top scorer of the 2005 FIFA youth world cup. Messi won his 1st international honour at the Beijing Olympics 2008 by winning a gold medal at the tournament.

dear Donnacha, Steven Gerrard may not have won any Ballon d’Or or premier league titles but the amount of work he has to do with players like Lucas and Ngog is outrageous. I mean he has done every thing that he possibly could but he is just not that lucky. he really needs some consideration
